The one-day bush bash with a “second-hand formal” dress code, will be headlined this year by Kiwi rock juggernaut Shihad.
The New Zealand legends, known for their stadium-sized shows, are celebrating the 20th anniversary of their 1996 self-titled record – affectionately known as “the fish album”.
The band’s third full-length release, features breakthrough single Home Again plus fan favourites La La Land, Ghosts from the Past and A Day Away.
Fans can expect a set of old and new, as Shihad slot tracks from recent record FVEY amongst their live classics including songs from their acclaimed album, The General Electric featuring heavily.
PigSty has always been popular with our audience so the natural growth of this event has lead to exciting times with inclusion of such a great headliner.
- Matt Johnston
Dashville organiser Matt Johnston said he was stoked to lock Shihad down.
“We've been trying to line up a suitable date to work with these guys for some time and, for it to happen in this way at PigSty, is awesome,” he said.
“I guess it’s testament to the growth and success of the event and Dashville.
“PigSty has always been popular with our audience so the natural growth of this event has lead to exciting times with inclusion of such a great headliner.”
Also helping Pigsty in July bring home the bacon will be Australia’s premier rock steady reggae masters, King Tide - the ARIA-nominated group are custom-built for a good time.
Other artists on the bill include rhythmic fusion group Masco Sound System, high-energy psych-rockers Lepers and Crooks, Newcastle’s incomparable indie act Justin Ngariki & the Darstardly Bastards and the dirty soul of Claire Anne Taylor.
Where The Gum Ball and Dashville Skyline festivals provide a chilled atmosphere punctuated by rock interludes, the ‘pig day out’ is a little more wild and strictly 18+.
2016 will be the first year all three Dashville concerts have run in the one year.
“Last year, with the break from The Gum Ball, we were able to lend time to focus on the introduction of Dashville Skyline,” Mr Johnston said.
“Since it was such a hit we've decided to just continue to ride the wave and bring it back for a second run.”
Pigsty in July sold out in 2014 and 2015 and this year’s edition plans to follow that success .
The fully licenced event (no BYO food/alcohol) runs from midday to 10pm, with return Rover coaches available.
It will be held on July 2 at Dashville.
