Rugby league is filled with larger than life characters, melodrama, villains, farce, betrayals, controversies and pantomime.
In Rugby League - The Musical, singer/satirist Denis Carnahan celebrates them all through a dynamic live interactive musical video cabaret burlesque with a bombastic blend of original songs and classic rock/pop parodies.
Carnahan is a talented, multi-award winning professional musician.
He has over 25 years experience in live entertainment, and 18 years in the television industry.
Best known for his political and sporting satire, Carnahan’s work flits joyously from the sublime to the ridiculous, from biting parody to emotive songs and themes for film and TV.
Carnahan came to most prominence through his viral and ever-updating hit State Of Origin song “That’s In Queensland”.
He’s written many other songs for ABC Grandstand, Fire-Up! On FBi, Triple M’s Grill Team, Fox Sports, and The Footy Show.
After cracking runs at the Sydney Comedy Festival and Sydney Fringe Comedy, Carnahan is taking the new and improved version of the show on the road.
Audiences can expect bigger hits, more grunt, new songs, more villains, more off field dramas, and some big name off season signings in this must-see show.
Described as “more entertaining than a Blake Austin hat-trick,” the show will have people raving for months afterwards.
No drama will be left unexplored, no controversy will be left unexamined.
Many egos will be tickled and slapped.
Other sports may be touched up as well.
You won’t need to be an passionate follower of rugby league to enjoy the musical, you will just need a sense of humour.
The videos that accompany the songs will give all the background needed.
It's set to be a night of show tunes, colour, costumes and footy - there’s certainly something for everyone!
