Maitland Miners under-15’s will contest the plate final of the NSW Country Championships at Cessnock Sportsground next Saturday, July 2.

The Miners made it through to the decider after a 20-12 win against Group 3 in the semi-final at Forster on Saturday, June 19.
They will take on Group 11, who defeated Group 10 by 16 points to 6 in their semi-final clash.
The Maitland under-14’s side also travelled to Forster for the semi-final, but went down to the Central Coast 10-6.
In the 2015 season, the Miners under-15s side took home the Country Championship Trophy, which is the second tier of competition in the series which includes northern and southern divisions.
The Maitland Miners team is drawn from junior players across Cessnock, Dungog, East Maitland, Greta Branxton, Kurri Kurri, Morpeth, Thornton Beresfield, West Maitland, West Wallsend and Woodberry.
In the under-14’s plate final, Newcastle will meet Victoria Rugby League.
Upper Hunter-based Group 21 tackle South Coast’s Group 7 in the under 15’s trophy decider.
The Ladies League Tag Championships showdown between Central Coast and East Coast Dolphins will also be held at the Coalfields venue.
Sydney Metropolitan Women’s round 10 action wraps up the day with Hunter Stars at home to the Berkeley Vale Panthers.
