Léna Carrie arrived on July 2, and will spend time in Maitland and Camp Krokodile, Queensland.
It came about after Hunter Valley Grammar School student Elinor Bowman went to France on Lions Club exchange at Christmas, and met Léna’s mother, who was her Spanish teacher.
Léna has already met the mayor, visited the art gallery and explored Elinor’s suburb of Stanhope. She plans to go to Sydney, do a whale watching tour and visit the Australian Reptile Park.
The 16-year-old, who turns 17 on Bastille Day, is yet to try Vegemite but was preparing to taste her first lamington and has already seen a kangaroo.
