The Bulldogs are on a five-game winning streak and for a large slice of that have not been able to call on playmaker Terence Seu Seu or Knights NSW Cup squad members Michael Steel, Tyme Dow-Nickau and Ryan Walker.
“There’s a spring in the steps with the boys. We’ve worked ourselves into a position, now we’ve got to consolidate that position,” Bulldogs coach Phil Williams said this week.
“We’ve still got to win two of three games. The goal is to win three out of three and that starts against Wests on Sunday.”
The Bulldogs depth has been tested during it’s mid-season surge but every time the playing group has answered, led by the forwards.
“Whenever we have lost some strike power everyone else has stepped up and done a bit extra,” Williams said
The systems we have got in place are working. Apart from a couple of bad halves of footy we’ve played well most of the year.
“There are still a few bad moments. We had a period on Sunday against Centrals, but somehow we dug out of it and scored 22 unanswered points in the second half.
“Not many teams come away with a win from being 18-6 down at Charlestown, that reflects the confidence in the side.
“We have got some strike power, Cameron Moran and Ben Wyborn have both been causing headaches for the opposition.”
Seu Seu is unlikely to return to the Bulldogs line-up until the finals
“Terence has been out for two weeks and we’ve won both games. It probably would have been a bit easier with him, but we did it without him.” Williams said.
