But the players and families from Maitland Football for All came close at the club’s annual presentation awards on Saturday at Maitland Federation Centre.
Maitland Football For All, which has been running for four years, is an organisation that gives children with autism or learning difficulties an opportunity to play team sports.
This year they had 40 registered players ranging in ages from 5 to 15.
Co-founder and former president Alex Threadgate was special guest at the awards and said it was fantastic to see the organisation thriving.
One of the highlights of the day was the presentation of the Francis Greenway High School Make A Difference award to Lukas Mason.
The award is chosen each year by Francis Greenway student John Schiemer and goes to the person he feels epitomises the group’s goals best.
John joined Football for All four years ago as a student project and still coaches.
