Publicity officer Kelly Meehand said the come and try days were an opportunity for families to try the sport without making a costly commitment to play and finding out the kids lose interest.
“It really is a family sport, we have teams for all ages and all the games are held at the same location each week,” she said.
Meehan is a member of the A-grade women’s team which won last year’s Newcastle District Softball Association major and minor premierships.
She said the club hoped to start a program in schools this year and would be holding a tournament in April which will draw teams from across the state.
Sunday’s come and try day will run from 11am to 1pm.
