Both bands will tour nationally in February, including a date at the Hunter Valley’s Bimbadgen Estate on February 11.

The announcement follows news that Garbage and The Temper Trap will be playing at Bimbadgen on December 3, on a line-up that includes The Preatures, Adalita and Tash Sultana.
Australia was the first country in the world to embrace Scottish band Simple Minds, giving the band its first ever hit single Love Song and first gold album, New Gold Dream.
The love affair has continued ever since with chart-toppers like Don’t You (Forget About Me), Alive and Kicking,Promised You A Miracle, Glittering Prize and Waterfront.
The band’s 16th album, Big Music, was released 18 months ago and rekindled the band’s energy and desire to tour.
“It’s been said Simple Minds has a love affair with Australia and I think that’s true,” frontman Jim Kerr said.
“It was the first country anywhere in the world to give us success and from our very first tours, we’ve always had a wonderful bond with Australian audiences. We have so many fantastic memories and can’t wait to be playing there again.”
As for The B-52s, their reputation as the ultimate quirky party band remains unchallenged. Fred Schneider, Cindy Wilson and Kate Pierson last toured Australia for A Day On The Green in 2009, thrilling fans with massive hits like Love Shack, Rock Lobster, Private Idaho and Roam.
Simple Minds and The B-52s will be joined on tour by bands Models and The Machinations.
Melbourne band Models were inducted into the 2010 ARIA Hall Of Fame, having emerged from the post-new-wave scene in the 1980s with ground-breaking albums The Pleasure Of Your Company and Out Of Mind Out Of Sight.
