I love the simplistic nature of the newest addition to our city. As you enter the CBD you will see the fountain upgrade coming to completion and a simple hashtag on the entry to the library - #MyMaitland.

It stands out, looks great and for me gives this space a modern twist which is great as, before the current upgrades, it looked a bit run down. Two thumbs up to the Maitland City Council from me.
In today’s social media world of #, @ and www, a simple statement like My Maitland really personalised the entry to the city centre and it acts as a visual reminder to use the # when posting about events and happenings around town.
Councillor Phillip Penfold is social media savvy and if you search the #MyMaitland you will see his great posts about events and positive aspects about our fair city.
You will also see people posting about events in the Levee and events such as Steamfest.
Another recent trend under this # was the Mai Wel debate, and if you were like me and could not attend, these posts showcased what a great event I unfortunately missed out on, and made me eager to learn about the next event.
#MyMaitland means different things to different people, and this is exciting, so I believe it is something all chamber members can take advantage of and for the cash-flow consensus business owners – it’s free.
Post about your business, post about an offer, post about an event and share it with the world but be sure to add the #MyMaitland.
Maybe that person who enters the CBD from the west looks at that #MyMaitland grabs a coffee in the Levee and starts to search and find your business.
Get creative and showcase what your business brings to #MyMaitland – show the people involved in your business. The Maitland chamber is about building a better community through greater economic activity in the LGA and better business and networking activities for business.
Yes, for a very long time this has been done in meetings and more ‘traditional’ forums. We are moving with the times at the chamber and believe that a simple sign on a wall from the council can also grow economic activity, if we all support new mediums.
I dare you get out your smartphone and log into social media now and see if you can spot the chamber president #MyMaitland.
