Fourteen members of the Hunter Bowmen Field Archery team of 35 won medals at the World Field Archery Campionships in Wagga Wagga.
Hunter Bowmen’s Jo Bogie made history when she was the first woman selected in the Australian Champions Team, which claimed bronze behind New Zealand and the US.
Bogie also won silver in her division the Ladies Bowhunter Limited A grade.
Barney Miller was the Hunter Bowmen’s highest medal winner in senior ranks winning gold in the Veteran's Men’s Freestyle Unlimited A Grade division.
Hunter Bowmen secretary Tania Harris said the world championships were field archery’s equivalent of the Olympics.
Harris said about 600 archers from 14 countries took part in the competition, which was reduced by two days because of rain and flooding.
She said in world competitions Fenny Thompson (Veterans ladies Freestyle Unlimited), Libby White (Ladies Bowhunter Compound) A Grade and Julie Morrisey (Ladies Freestyle Limited Compound) all won bronze.
Silver medals went to Martin Clifton in the division B grade (Men’s Bowhunter Unlimited) and Ross Marafioti (Men’s Freestlyle Unlimited)
Sindy Avard was first in the B grade Ladies Bowhunter Limited and Tracy Hickey was third in the Ladies Longbow.
Harris said the club’s juniors also had terrific results with Tilly White winning gold in her Junior Girl Bowhunter Compound division.
In the world ranks, Mikayla and Seth Harris Rose and Patrick Innes won silver in their divisions.
After just three months in the sport Jade Thomas won world bronze in the Cub Girls Barebow Recurve.
