The grants are designed to encourage opportunities for students, teachers and the school community to learn about sustainability.
The money will be spent on establishing an accessible area for students with special needs to take part in environmental education through programs such as Schools’ Tree Day and Vegwatch.
It is hoped the grants and programs will break down the physical barriers that prevent students with special needs from taking part in the invaluable activities.

A sensory and bush tucker garden incorporating native trees, grasses and shrubs are planned for the school.
Natural bush areas provide students with a place to connect with and learn about nature and a way to add biodiversity to school grounds.
They have become increasingly popular in facilities across the Hunter from Metford Public to Maitland Hospital.
Parliamentary Secretary for the Hunter, Scot MacDonald said the Eco Schools Grant program would promote sustainability.
“I am pleased to see the NSW Government take initiative for schools so they can involve their students and the community in developing and implementing environmental management projects,” he said.
