This proud rugby league nursery, better known as the West Maitland Wallaroos, is inviting players to sign up for 2017.
Have fun, meet new friends and follow your dreams. The invitation extends to anyone wanting to play rugby league including new players, current players or previous club members and participants.
The Wallaroos have been the launching pad for numerous NRL careers.
Current Knight’s player Brock Lamb was a Wallaroo, as was current Titans player Max King. Sam Anderson played a couple of games for the Panthers and is now at the Redcliff dolphins
Greg Bird came through the West Maitland system before going on to represent the Sharks, Titans, NSW and Australia. We’ve got a proud pedigree,” club president John Young said.
“But we cater to all levels drawing players from the Maitland area, Rutherford, Telarah, Gillieston Heights, Aberglassyn and surrounds.
“We’ve got qualified trainers and coaches and run teams in all grades from under six up to under 17.
“Girls can play in mixed teams up to the age of 12.
“Our home ground is McKeachies Sport Complex, located on Redgum Circuit at Aberglassyn, and we have training most nights depending on which team you’re in.”
The Wallaroos go out of their way to make rugby league accessible for their members.
“This year when they register, kids will receive a training shirt, playing shorts, socks and a brand new playing strip courtesy of sponsor Club City Maitland,” club vice president Andrew Carraro said.
“We’ve got some great new sponsors on board this year and there’s a new culture in the club with an exciting outlook.”
Season 2017 kicks off April 1. If you’d like to play with the Wallaroos, follow their Facebook page [Facebook West Maitland Schoolboys] for details on registration or visit the www.westmaitland.sportingpulse.net
