The Bears, who finished bottom in the NPL last year, lost their Pool A decider 1-0 to last year’s NPL premiers Edgeworth Eagles.
Adamstown Rosebud claimed the cup from Edgeworth on penalties after the score was 1-all at full-time
In the earlier rounds the Bears defeated Northern NSW first division teams Cessnock City Hornets 4-0 on Friday night and Wallsend 4-1 on Saturday.
The win against Wallsend included a double by Chris Hurley.
Bears coach Steve Piggott said he was pleased with his team’s hit-outs in very tough conditions and was pleased with continued improvement from his young squad in the trials.
The Hornets lost all three pool games but will be far better for the run.
The club did a fantastic job hosting the Pool A matches on short notice after rain forced a switch of venue on Friday from Edgeworth’s Jack McLaughlan Oval.
