Tocal Field Days will feature talks, demonstrations, entertainment, competitions, animal races and more from Friday to Sunday.
Tocal Field Days manager Wendy Franklin said a major feature of the rural exhibition was the urban and community gardens.
There will be presentations offering tips and advice on growing food, biodiversity gardens set up for people to view and cooking demonstrations and competitions.
Slow Food Hunter Valley will also be onsite to share their secrets in the kitchen.
Ms Franklin said the program was catered towards the idea that people don’t need a huge parcel of land to grow their own food.
“City families especially will be surprised and delighted at what they can do in their own backyards,” Ms Franklin said.
Ms Franklin said another focus of the event was information on what the college offers and the chance to sign up to courses on the day.
She said many people thought the college only offered full-time and residential courses and did not know about shorter programs including quad bike and chainsaw training.
There will be live entertainment throughout the weekend with Talent at Tocal on stage. Children under 18 have auditioned and been chosen to perform at the event.
Ms Franklin said Tocal Field Days will feature something for everyone, not just those with a keen passion for agriculture.
“There’s no way anybody could come and not find something that interests them,” she said.
Sunny weather has also been forecast across the weekend.
“It’s a beautiful day for a day in the country if nothing else!” Ms Franklin said.
Tickets and additional information are available online at www.tocalfieldays.com.
Free shuttle buses will run from Maitland Train Station on the hour from 9am each day.
The shuttle bus will also stop at Lorn 15 minutes past the hour.
