For the second week in a row, Carpet Court took the game right up to a top-two opponent after beating Hills Solicitors 42-41 the week before.
The George skipper Amonie Lindsell said she was very impressed with Carpet Court’s blend of experience and youth.
“We really had to dig deep to win in the end,” she said.
“They forced us to take our game to another level to get across the line.
“They have some really enthusiastic and talented younger players and a good blending of experience to help with game management.
“It was great to get such a tight match. It’s really good for the competition to have several teams now in the mix to make finals and do well in them.”
Lindsell said Laura Nolan and Cyndy Lydbury both had outstanding games.
“Laura started in defence and did a really good job before moving into goal at the end, where she was excellent as well.
“Cindy controlled the centre court for us and was really important in us getting the win.”
The George meet Hills Solicitors in a top-two battle next week.
Hills got things back on track with a 57-30 win against The Bradford, while Club Maitland City virtually booked their spot in the finals beating Branxton GMP 57-31.
Tolsaf Cranes had a strong 42-24 win against Royal Federal.
