This followed another $6200 raised this year through raffles alone.
The money was certainly well spent with the brigade attending 118 incidents in the last 12 months – everything from clean ups to floods and fires.
“We have other sponsors but the pub is by far our biggest supporter,” Bob Shorten, a retired brigade member, said.
“It would be impossible hard for us to overstate how important their support is.”
Over the years the popular pub has used a variety of fundraisers to help raise funds, including a fundraising ball, but the one constant has been the midweek raffles that invariably are well supported.
For the Bolwarra-Largs Brigade, the funding has been used to buy and update desperately needed equipment.
“Things like electrically operated hose reels, high powered water cannons, hand held two-way radios, advanced training aids, new computer equipment … these things aren’t cheap,” Mr Shorten said.” A thousand dollars doesn’t go very far.”
Bushrangers’ general manager Dylan Brooks said they were delighted to help.
“The RFS are a very important part of the community and they do a lot more than fire fighting. It’s good to support a group like that. You can directly see their involvement in the community.”
