How about some freshly picked vegetables submerged in an Asian-style chicken broth with noodles and wontons?
The Market Kitchen is back in The Levee on October 19 for the Slow Food Earth Markets Maitland, giving shoppers the chance to indulge in a locally sourced meal while they tick off their fresh food list.
Chef and Slow Food Hunter Valley leader Amorelle Dempster will create the dish and serve it up from 2pm.
She said it was packed with goodness to help boost the immune system.
“It’s inspired by my visit to China, we need a broth – everybody has had the colds and the flu, and having a really nice chicken broth will help,” Ms Dempster said.
“I’ll be using Little Hill Farm chicken and it will be gluten free.”
The market starts at 2pm and runs until 7pm.
It will offer a wide range of fruit and vegetables, honey, meat, bread and pastries, eggs, olive oil, flowers and much more.

What can I buy there?
Maitland’s fresh food revolution is the culmination of a long journey that started in early 2016.
It has gradually transformed into a twice monthly market, which usually works out to fall fortnightly.

The market helps 14 producers, and a handful of backyard growers, to earn some money from the land.
There’s long-time farmers like Oakhampton’s Austin Breiner and East Maitland’s Matthew Dennis.
Then there’s those who are paving their own farming path after growing up in the city, like Tom Christie and Dominique Northam.
