The East Maitland Griffins took members of the NSW representative bowling-arm team at the East Maitland Bowling Club and the scores were tied 51-all across three rinks with one end to play
Griffins bowls co-ordinator Clay Parker said Easts’ trailed the jack with the last bowl and a one-shot victory went to the Woomeras.
Parker is one of four Easts bowlers who are part of the Woomeras squad, which will be pitted against Australia’s best at the national titles to be hosted by East Maitland in September, 2018.
The four Griffins represented their home club, which now boasts 26 members who use the bowling arm to continue their passion for bowls.
“It has been a godsend. I’ve used it for four years and it’s meant 26 bowlers alone at our club and 10,000 across Australia have been able to keep bowling,” Parker said.
