She’s Gifted impressive
The aptly named She’s Gifted is the likely favourite for the Maitland GBOTA Branch New Year’s Gift Final this Thursday after an impressive heat win.
The 22-month-old daughter of Fabregas and Big Gift exploded on the turn to put six lengths on her rivals and clock a best-of-day 24.78 seconds for the 450 metres in the third of four heats last week.
She’s Gifted came into the New Year’s Gift heats with two wins from two starts in a maiden heat and final at Albion Park in Queensland over the 331m in October and on the back of her Maitland win Sawyers Gully trainer Darryl Thomas must be excited about her future prospects.
Although slowly away from box eight, She’s Gifted quickly rounded up the field and beat the Bryan Young-trained Dynamic Goodwin (25.23s) by six and a quarter lengths with Shakes third for Gary Ernst.
Wyembah Charlie is right in the mix for the final after winning the first heat in a slick 24.87s, beating the Adam Ramage-trained Ross’s Gem (25.20s) by four and three quarter lengths.
Truly Dominant won the second heat in 25.22s for trainer Mark Davidson, beating Les Hudson’s Big Red Opal (25.33s) by one and a half lengths.
Cougar Stealth won the fourth heat in 25.13s for Swan Bay trainer Allan Ivers with Jason Mackay’s Zipping Chazza (25.20) a length away second.
The first two placegetters from each heat go through the $1800-to-the-winner final at Maitland Showground on Thursday afternoon.
