It started slowly but by the Bulldogs’ first try in the Kurri Nines semi-final against South Newcastle the Old Boys had loaned their collective growl to the “woof, woof, woof, woof, woof” of the song Who Let The Dogs Out as it reverberated across the ground.
As you can imagine this was no Pekingese or Chihuahua yelp but a full-on guttural Rottweiler, Great Dane or for that matter Bulldog bark.
The Bulldogs have a new weapon in their psychological arsenal and, from first showing, a team to back it up to make a visit to The Graveyard for rivals an imposing challenge but one of the highlights of the season.
It was all part of the fun and colour at the inaugural A-Plus Contracting Kurri Nines which has been hailed a success by competing teams, fans and organisers.
The Kurri Nines are here to stay. Now it’s time for The Graveyard to host the the annual Charity Shield against the Goannas on February 17.
