Maitland hurdlers Mitchell Lightfoot and Ebony Newton will have an extra bounce in their leap after being recognised under the Australian Institute of Sport’s Local Sporting Champions Program.

Lightfoot, of Largs, and Newton, of Wallalong, were presented the sporting grants on March 23 by member for Lyne, Dr David Gillespie, after successfully applying following a year of strong results.
The Local Sporting Champions Program is a federal initiative that provides a $500 grant that can be used towards the cost of travel, accommodation, uniforms or equipment when competing, coaching or officiating by successful applicants.
