The Blacks will wear special jerseys to promote this year’s charity partner 1000ks for Kids which raises much needed funds for Camp Quality’s important work with kids with cancer.
The hospital has given its spot on the Blacks jersey to the charity and chief executive officer Sue-ellen Blomfield and Blacks president Patrick Howard are calling on rugby fans to dig deep.
The 1000ks for Kids is an annual fund-raising bike ride and this year runs over its most testing route yet starting in Maleney in Queensland and finishing in Warner Bay from September 7-16.
Members of the Maitland team taking part in the event including Paul Brownlee, Kristi Ayerst, Janine Harris and Jayden Rowett met at the hospital yesterday to promote Saturday’s fundraiser
Charity Day this year coincides with the club’s Family Day and there will be activities from kick-off in juniors at 8am throughout the day and into the evening.
Howard urged fans to buy tickets in major raffles being held on the day as well as digging deep and making donations to charity buckets being taken around the ground.
The raffles will be drawn after an auction of the players jerseys worn by Maitland first grade players against Hamilton Hawks.
Howard said the Hamilton had been incredibly supportive and given generously to make sure the annual Charity Day game was such a success over recent years.
