The club celebrated its 30th birthday on Wednesday and it still has some of its original members who have been with it since it started in 1988.
CEO of Probus South Pacific Silvana Martignago, who joined the celebrations, said members should be very proud of the milestone.
“You’re part of a core community and I think that’s something to be extremely proud of,” she said.
“It’s a significant milestone.”
The Mayor of Maitland Loretta Baker was also on hand with some words of encouragement for a group that has worked hard to fundraise for its local community.
Two of the founding members of the club, Barbara Humphries and Shirley Jones who have been a key part of the club since its inception, combined to cut the birthday cake.
“I enjoy a lot of things about it – obviously the social interaction is a key thing – the friendships you make, and the fellowship of the other members,” Mrs Humphries said.
“It has been a pleasure and I would encourage others to come along and get involved.”
