Maitland Blacks Junior Rugby Club is putting out a call to all junior boys and girls to have a run with the region’s oldest family friendly club in 2019.
A girls seven-a-side comp kicks off February 22 and runs through to April 5 competing in under 13, 15 and 17 divisions
Then a Saturday girls 10-a-side competition begins May 18 in the same age groups.
The boys competition begins April 6 with games on a Saturday from ages under 7 up to under 17-18 which are combined this year.
Registration can be completed online now via Maitland Junior Rugby Club web page – www.maitlandblacks.com.au.
Be sure to use your $100 Active Kids Vouchers, details of which are available online from NSW Government Office of Sport – www.sport.nsw.gov.au.
The program, which runs until January 2021, enables parents to access $100 per school-enrolled child to cover registration, participation and membership costs for sport, fitness and active recreation activities.
Maitland Blacks Junior Rugby Club was named 2018 Rugby Club of the Year by NSW Rugby.
The club has 498 registered players, from under 7 through to 17s, including 79 girls, making up 38 teams across all formats.
“It’s a great club,” spokesperson Dan Leadly said.
“You learn good skills, we’ve got great coaches and the focus is on having fun, developing those skills and getting active.”
The club’s home base is at Marcellin Park, on Glenarvon Road, Lorn, just across the bridge at Maitland.
