In black and white terms it was a win ... but for the beleaguered Maitland Saints, it was so much more than that.

After six consecutive losses, the Saints recorded their first win of a frustrating season on Saturday when they stormed home to run over the top of top four side Warners Bay on their home turf.
In doing so, the Saints recorded a breakthrough - their first win over an established Diamond Cup side.
And to highlight what that means, in the corresponding clash between the two sides last season, Warners Bay had annihilated Maitland with a score of 177-nil.
Yep, nil. Not a single behind.
So you can imaging how much sweeter Saturday's win felt for those who were there that day.
And with a run of home games coming up, the Saints can suddenly see light at the end of what has been a long, dark tunnel.
Co-coach Ben Stewart, who reluctantly pulled on the boots on Saturday, says the win will give his young team loads of confidence.
"We had a good start and were able to stay with them, and I think that gave us confidence," Stewart said.
"And then we were 20 down in the last quarter and we kicked four goals in the last 10 minutes. It was sensational. I think in the end we just outran them.
"The fact it was our young captain Riley Newstead who kicked the winner was fabulous for him and for the other guys."
The Saints' season was always going to be a challenge after losing "eight or nine" players in the off-season - some retirements, others moving out of the area.
"We went for a youth policy so we have a bunch a young kids who are learning how to play senior footy," Stewart said.
"But they're going great. Young players like Matthew Guy who was playing his second game, did really well.
"Trevon Bob was great on the wing with his speed and tackling, and Sam Jordan's running from the backline was instrumental .
"Every week we have a handful of under-17 players who are among our best on field."
The Saints have been off their home ground this season to allow new grass to take, but now have a run of five in a row in Maitland.
With a few of those games certainly considered winnable, suddenly season 2019 might have a silver lining.
