After running in five tries and leading 22-6 five minutes into the second-half, the Pickers came to a screaming half conceding four straight converted tries and a penalty to inexplicably lose 22-32.

"I'd be happy to be disappointed, to be honest I don't know what I am," Dorn said

"I'm not happy, that's for sure.

"We were so dominant in the first half, we were brilliant. we were ready, we were on top and we didn't give them any breathing room.

"Once a little bit of pressure was put on us and bit of momentum swung back to them we couldn't handle it.

"When you are up 22-6 five minutes into the second half against a team that has played three games in six days I'm not sure why we would panic, why we would go away from what is working, but for some reason we do. We lack concentration, we lack discipline, we lack lots of things that good teams have.

"It would be easier if we didn't show any of those things at all, but we showed them for half a game. Last week the first 40 minutes against Macquarie we were awful, the second half brilliant.

"This week we were brilliant in the first half, the second half we were absolutely dreadful. The same thing happened against Lakes.

"If it was a 40-minute we game we'd be a very good team."

Hayden Grainer, Greg Morris, Jye Bieman-King and Tylar Carter all crossed for first half tries. Matt Allwood crossed two minutes after the break to give Maitland a 22-6 lead.

However, Central scored the next 26 points.

Dorn said poor kicking for goal and poor discipline, with the penalty count heavily against Maitland, did not help the Pickers cause.

"We were dominant and might not have got the rub of the green a couple of times which didn't hep. We only scored one goal which didn't help where we were in terms of the scoreboard.

"But it's not the reason we lost, we just can't come up in a key moment with what needs to be done as an individual or as a team.

"I've said it before and obviously we're running out of next weeks, if you can't do it in those situations then you are just making up numbers at the end of the year if we do make semi-final football.

"We get a penalty against us and almost certainly there's going to be a try against us the next set.

"You don't want to be all doom and gloom and maybe If we had knocked a few more goals over or conceded a few less penalties it might have been a difference, but they are just factors they are not the reason you lose.

"No matter what happens you've got to be able to make your tackle, stop an off-load. you;ve got to be able to push on the inside, you've got to be able to not force an off-load, not drop a ball.

"There's certain things you control, you can't control a lot of it, but there's a lot you can control but our ability to control them is no good and if one thing goes against us we're shot to bits.

"Now we are going to have to rely on other results. There are a couple of teams with games in hand and now Central are one point behind us.

"We've taken it out of our control now. We've allowed other teams to influence the destiny of our season which is unforgivable.

The Pickers have a bye next weekend and face Macquarie at Peacock Field and Lakes United at Maitland in their final two games.
