The Knights and Dragons will battle it out at No. 1 Sportsground in front of local footy fans on February 22.
The game is the result of a partnership between the Knights, Dragons and Maitland City Council.
Maitland Mayor Loretta Baker said council had enjoyed a "wonderful experience" with the Knights over the last couple of years and described the club as a pleasure to deal with.
"I encourage everyone to get their tickets and come along for what will no doubt be another great day at the footy," she said.
The Knights have made steady improvements in the last few years, recruiting well and building a solid platform. They finished 11th last year and with the addition of new coach Adam O'Brien, the club and supporters have firm hopes for the 2020 competition.
The Knights have built a squad eager to produce which makes this match at No. 1 Sportsground a must see game.
The Dragons are coming off a relatively quiet 2019 season and will no doubt be looking to start things off positively in the pre-season.
Knights CEO Philip Gardner said the people of Maitland love their rugby league.
"This will be the third year we have taken a trial match to Maitland and the supporters haven't disappointed," he said.
"In 2020 we have a new coach, some new players and a new direction. This trial match will be a great opportunity for our fans to get a sneak peek at the team before the season proper."
General sale tickets for the match will go on sale at 2pm on Tuesday, December 17 and can be purchased online at maitlandevents.com.au.
Tickets are $20 for grandstand seating, while general admission is $10 for adults and youth (13-17 years old), and $5 for children aged 4 to 12. Kids aged 3 and under are free. Children's tickets cannot be purchased separately and will need to be bought with adult tickets.
Kick off for the main game is at 5.30pm.
