And he intends to do that by stopping Hawaiian superstar Max Holloway in their title rematch scheduled for UFC's 'Fight Island'.

Volkanovski ripped the title away from Holloway with a points win in Las Vegas last December,

They meet again on July 12 on a stacked triple world title UFC 251 card on Abu Dhabi's Yas Island, with Volknaovski flying out on Friday.

Restrictions caused by the coronavirus pandemic meant Volkanovkski couldn't follow his usual pre-fight routine, which includes training in Thailand and at Auckland's City Kickboxing gym.

He normally goes into camp eight weeks before a bout but has only had six weeks notice for this contest.

Volkanovski needed to get an exemption to do contact work, which he started later than usual.

Despite those impediments, the 31-year-old fighter from Windang on the NSW south coast said he was in shape and couldn't miss the opportunity to be part of the first 'Fight Island' show

"The world will be watching, it's going to be a lot of hype around Fight Island, about this card ,and a lot of hype around our fight and our rematch; so it's an opportunity that I didn't want to let slip away," Volkanovski said.

"I'm the type of guy, if anyone can do a shorter camp it's me because everyone knows me for my hard work.

"I'm a professional, I'm always in good enough nick.

"I'm looking forward to going out there doing my thing and proving to the world I am the best featherweight in the world and I'm going to be one of the greatest of all time."

Volkanovski expected both fighters would make some slight changes in their second fight.

"There might be things where he might throw more knees, he might throw a few more head kicks," Volkanovski said.

"Probably come forward, probably attack a little bit more and not try and outsmart me because that didn't work.

"There's still things that I need to change as well.

"I have to mix it up a little bit but at the same time there's a lot of things that I did well, that would work on anyone.

"As long as I am staying sharp, I know it's going to be a long night for Max and I think I will put him away, I truly do."
