A WOMAN who was allegedly speeding and under the influence of drugs when she hit and killed 47-year-old Anne Bourke as she crossed Main Road at Heddon Greta in February 2020 will face a trial in Newcastle District Court.

Katie Holmes, 27, appeared in Newcastle Local Court on Wednesday where she was committed for trial on a charge of dangerous driving occasioning death. A number of other charges, including driving with an illicit drug in her system and speeding, will follow along.
Ms Homes will next appear in Newcastle District Court on April 1, where it is expected she will plead not guilty and get a trial date.
Police said Ms Bourke was walking across Main Road about 11pm on February 15 when she was hit by a car.
