A MAN accused of failing to stop and assist his mate after he had fallen from the hood of his car and suffered critical injuries at Mayfield in December has appeared in court for the first time.

Liam Sharman, 18, of Kearsley, appeared in Newcastle Local Court on Thursday charged with four offences including dangerous and negligent driving occasioning grievous bodily harm and failure to stop and assist after vehicle impact causing grievous bodily harm.
He did not enter any pleas and the matter was adjourned until April 22.
Police allege Mr Sharman and his mate, a 20-year-old man, were in Mr Sharman's BMW sedan on December 22 last year when they began arguing. The 20-year-old got out of the car and went inside and Mr Sharman drove off.
But when he returned a short time later, the 20-year-old man climbed onto the roof of the moving vehicle before he fell to the roadway as Mr Sharman turned a corner.
