Weston-based trainer Rodney James is set to line-up Fantasy Money in the Hawkesbury To Hunter (2030 metres) decider at Newcastle this Friday night, having narrowly won one of last week's four heats.
James said Fantasy Money, which finished third in this year's Tomlin Memorial, arrived back at his Lovedale stables following a stint at Tamworth with his son Brendan.
"He was thinking about selling, but I was happy to take her again," James said.
"She's been back for six months now and she had to dig deep the other night."
Fantasy Money, driven by Louth Park's Dan Morgan on Friday night, paid $19 for the win after holding off Emm Aye Dee and Mike Orr by a short half-head and neck respectively.
Other heat winners Mollidor, Dancinginthedark and Sweet Creation also advance to the $12,240 final on September 24.
The three fastest second-place getters are expected to round out the 10-horse field, which is set to be released on Tuesday.
Blazing Shannon, Rolamax, Hot Jiving, Bettor A Girl and Nifty Studleigh recorded wins elsewhere on Newcastle's most recent program.
