Maitland Mustangs women's coach Leilani Mitchell has been named in the 24-player Opals squad for the FIBA Women's Basketball World Cup in Sydney in September 2022.

MItchell was part of the Australian Opals team at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.
The squad's international duties start in Serbia on February 10, with the aim of a medal on home soil.
Mitchell, who was named the Mustangs women's head coach for the new NBL1 East competition in October, is currently playing with Bendigo Spirit in the Australian WNBL.
She will be a non-playing coach in Maitland and will take up her coaching duties at the end of the WNBL season in March.
The Mustangs have also re-signed Waratah Champions League coach of the year Luke Boyle as head coach of the men's team.
The 12-team competition is set to start in April.
