The road, which links Maitland's CBD with Aberglasslyn, Rutherford and McKeachies Run, has been out of action since it sustained major structural damage during flooding last year.
It reopened on Tuesday.
Works prior to the reopening required the State Government to complete critical infrastructure repairs before Maitland City Council could undertake further roadworks and reopen it to traffic.
The road closed almost one year ago, in March, after a severe storm resulted in the failure of a flood drainage pipe that forms part of the Hunter Valley Flood Mitigation scheme.
The incident also damaged the underlying road formation.
The road was scheduled to reopen in mid April.
