The district had 2149 positive cases logged in the 24 hours to 4pm Monday, made up of 356 PCR tests and 1793 rapid tests.
There are currently 39 COVID-19 cases in hospitals across the Hunter New England Local Health District, and four in intensive care.
It comes as the state records 20,960 positive test results in the reporting period - including 15,043 positive rapid antigen tests and 5,917 positive PCR tests.
There were also four deaths recorded.
