Hallie, who is a student at Thornton Public School, has come up with her very own fundraising effort, The Hallie Project.
The Hallie Project makes and sells tie-dyed socks, with $2 from every pair sold going to GIVIT, an organisation supporting flood affected communities.
So far, The Hallie Project has raised $278, and aims to raise $500.
In the news:
Hallie, who loves arts and crafts, started tie-dying with her mum, Nicole Percival, and two younger brothers during the 2020 COVID lockdown.
"We started doing tie-dye just for fun during COVID, and then at school I learnt about the flood victims and I felt bad for them losing all their stuff so I wanted to do something," Hallie said.
"Since I love art and craft I decided to do tie-dye."
Hallie said it's really cool that she can help people.
"Before I couldn't really do anything, but now I have something that I can say 'I did that'," she said.
Ms Percival said her daughter is a bright rainbow.
"She's a good egg, she likes to help people," she said.
Ms Percival said their family has been through disaster themselves, when a close family member experienced losing their home in a fire just before Hallie was born.
"We've been through something like that and know how awful it is to lose everything, and Hallie has heard about that as she's grown up and I think that's what inspired her to want to help," she said.
Ms Percival said their chosen charity, GIVIT, donates 100 per cent of the funds donated to purchasing essential items for people on the ground in the flood affected communities.
Hallie's friends, family and teachers have been supporting the cause and purchasing the socks, and word is starting to get out to the wider community with local childcare centres purchasing too.
The Hallie Project's socks are $5 per pair, with $2 from each pair being donated to GIVIT for flood relief.
The socks come in children and adult sizes, and there is free delivery to the Thornton and Chisholm areas.
