The Adelaide trio will take to the main stage at Maitland Showground on Saturday for Groovin the Moo, this being their sixth time on the festival's lineup since 2006.
Founding member Suffa MC (Matt Lambert) said the group is looking forward to coming to Maitland for what will be their first show in more than two years.
"We had our last rehearsal yesterday, which was good because our first rehearsal a month or two ago did feel a little rusty, I'm going to be honest," Lambert said.
In the news:
"We'll be bringing the energy of people who haven't played a show in two years, which is a lot of energy."
The group have received ten ARIA awards, made six consecutive number one albums, sold out arena tours, and have top five ARIA chart songs like 1955 and Cosby Sweater under their belt.
The group will be playing their new single Show Business for the first time to the Maitland crowd, and are bringing along the full band with all the bells and whistles "just short of circus entertainment".
Lambert said the Maitland crowd is always great fun.
"The whole area of the Hunter Valley and Newcastle, we've always had a great time out that way," he said.
"Always great crowds and we couldn't wish for a better place to come back to, it's beautiful."
Hilltop Hoods will have the chance to reunite with some old friends, like Montaigne who they recorded 1955 with back in 2015, and Lambert said he'd be most keen to see Spiderbait and JK-47 on this year's lineup.
"What we like about Groovin is they always have great lineups," he said.
"The opportunity to go out to regional areas and play to big crowds is great, it's really fun. We'll keep coming back for as long as they will have us."
With a 70 per cent of rain forecast in Maitland on Saturday, scenes at Groovin the Moo could be right out of the muddy 1969 Woodstock - it might be best to wear the gumboots.

This will be the first Groovin the Moo since 2019, after the 2020 festival was cancelled due to COVID-19 restrictions.
