Paterson MP Bob Baldwin said the federal government’s Early Learning Languages Australia trial program offered preschools a suite of apps, resources and educator support networks to deliver early language learning.
Expressions of interest close on March 4.
“The apps introduce children to words, sentences and songs in the language and offers them an experience and practice that’s right for their age,” Mr Baldwin said.
“The success of the initial trial is why the Turnbull government has announced that the 1000 preschools that previously applied to participate in the trial, including those in Paterson, can now be considered for participation in 2016.”
Education and Training Minister Simon Birmingham said the government had committed $9.8 million over two years for the trial of the apps.
He said initial feedback from parents, children and educators had been positive.
