Mr Fitzgibbon, a senior Labor MP, said the “inferior” NBN being rolled out was threatening to send businesses to the wall.
His electorate stretches from the Cessnock local government area, up to Singleton and Muswellbrook, down to the Lake Macquarie area.
Mr Fitzgibbon said four small businesses had complained to him about internet and telephone disruptions caused by the roll-out in the past week.
“A day without phone or internet services is problematic for any small business, but to lose services for weeks is devastating,” he said.
“Malcolm Turnbull's inferior NBN is bad enough, but the government’s mismanagement of its roll-out has been appalling.”
Mr Fitzgibbon has written to the Minister for Communications Mitch Fifield demanding action.
