The woman was at the correctional centre to visit an inmate about 12.30pm Monday when she was stopped by corrections officers for a search.
Police claim she admitted to having drugs hidden in her underwear.
A search allegedly revealed a white balloon containing 34 strips of Buprenorphine, a restricted prescription opioid drug.
The drugs were seized by corrections officers and police were later called.
The woman, 34, was issued with a court attendance notice on charges of introducing a prohibited substance to a corrections facility and drug possession.
Visitors caught bringing drugs to prisons face penalties of up to two years' imprisonment. They could also face additional drug-related criminal charges and be banned from visits of up to two years.
