On Friday, the business hosted their annual Cystic Fibrosis day sausage sizzle and community engagement day.
Business systems operator Michele O’Mealey said the group raised about $3000 for the cause, through their barbecue, and selling Cystic Fibrosis Australia merchandise.
“We also approached all the local businesses and ask them to donate,” she said.
“Bakers Delight and Woolworths helped with the sausage sizzle.
“All the funds go to CF Australia and LJ hooker is the national sponsor for Cystic Fibrosis Australia.”
Over the past 18 years, LJ Hooker Australia has raised more than $5 million for the Cystic Fibrosis Research Fund.
The local branch has been contributing to that tally for the past seven years.
“We’ve raised about $3000 every time,” Ms O’Mealey said, adding it was a cause close to the heart of the Maitland team.
“It’s a day-in-day-out illness that progressively gets worse and there is no cure.
“Life expectancy has been extended but there’s still a long way to go and a lot of research and that costs money.”
