Port Stephens Hunter police are investigating a break-in at Lavenders Riverside Cafe in which a cash register containing no money was stolen.

Police said a glass door was smashed at the cafe in the Levee before the register was taken early on Wednesday morning.
The incident was said to have occurred sometime between midnight and 6.30am.
Police are investigating the incident and are appealing for any witnesses to come forward.
