The pair are riding in memory of their mum and wife, as well as much loved Morpeth woman Michelle Cockbain. Both women battled cancer in their lives. Michelle, a mum-of-four, received her cancer diagnosis on September 5, 2018. Just one year and one week after her diagnosis she died on September 19, 2019.

This Sunday, Ms Craig and Mr Wilkinson will begin a six-day journey from Dubbo to Morpeth as part of a fundraiser for Maitland Love Your Sister.

The final leg falls on the same day of what would've been Michelle's 50th birthday. Ms Craig said the fundraising ride was another push for Michelle's legacy to find a cure to cancer, as well as her own mother who also battled cancer in her life.

"It's for Mum, it's for every family that's been touched by cancer, it's for Sophie and Lauren and Erin and Angus - to know their incredible mum [Michelle] touched so many people like us, it's for the love of her life, Andrew," she said. "But most of all, it's for Michelle because she is still helping people ... and she is helping Dad and I find our way."

The fundraiser has already smashed its target of $5000, and is the same charity Michelle raised more than $100,000 for.

"Cancer, and specifically cancer impacting strong women, has certainly touched my family, the Cockbain family and countless others," Ms Craig said.

"This ride is to raise money for Love Your Sister who do an amazing job with their commitment to vanquishing all cancers with hard science. Our effort seems somewhat modest, but I hope it will make a difference no matter how small."

The charity Love Your Sister was started in 2012 by Connie Johnson and brother Samuel Johnson, and aims to raise funds for cancer research. The duo will arrive in Swan Street, Morpeth at 4pm on Friday, August 28.
