With its warm jarrah paneling, integrated LED lighting, wine fridge, dishwasher - and most importantly a beer tap - the judges fell for it too.
So much so the masterpiece from a small Heatherbrae workshop won the President’s Choice at this year’s Cabinet Makers and Designers Association Awards.
The Melbourne soiree was hosted by none other than celebrity decorator Shaynna Blaze last Friday and involved a ‘who’s who’ from the industry.
Dylan Walsh stood proud to accept the award as the owner of Bessant Custom Furniture and the artist behind the creation.
“I was just happy I got to build the bar of my dreams – and I didn’t have to pay for it,” Mr Walsh said.
“The customer is proud as punch too.”
It measures 5.5 metres long, 2.7m wide and 2.5m tall. It houses a custom made fridge, keg and beer tap system, dishwasher, wine fridge and sink. LED down lights and strip lighting throughout means the customer won’t have any drama mixing up a cocktail.
If there is a spill, the solid Western Australian jarrah top is finished in durable two-pack polyurethane to protect it.
The Tenambit home it was installed in is even in the running for a Master Builders award.
“The president said to me after that it was one of the best pieces he had seen in all his years,” Mr Walsh said.
“He said we should have won every prize that night but those words were enough for me.”
