The board was selected by an independent Selection Committee appointed by membership organisations and through a public meeting.
The members are: David McDonald who has a background in IT, management and organisational development.
Janice Bonamy who has a background in small business and marketing.
Jenny Lewis who has a background in small business, legal and community affairs.
Westley Nielson who has a background in finance, accounting and governance.
Cameron Archer who has a background in governance, government and organisational leadership.
The Board has met and appointed Cameron Archer as Chair for 2017. The Constitution calls for seven members and it is proposed that the remaining positions will be filled during 2017.
“The Board will review the skills gaps which it has and seek two further board members,” said Mr Archer.
“The aim is to have strong governance and stability with a three-year strategic plan.
“The organisation will be responsible for the oversight of the strategic plan and the funds Council currently allocate to tourism, as approved by Dungog Council earlier this year.”
Westley Nielson was appointed Chair of the Audit and Risk Committee with David McDonald as a member.
The Board will be guided by a report released in late 2015, the Dungog Shire Visitor Economy 2015-2018.
That plan, which was adopted by Dungog Shire Council after public exhibition, was developed to provide the strategic framework to guide the Dungog tourism industry over the next three years.
The plan aims to foster a modern tourism industry in Dungog with a co-ordinated approach to events and marketing.
Goals of the plan are to have an industry-driven tourism body with strong membership and a 10% increase in visitors.
