Thompson said while unavoidable, Sunday’s cancellation of their game against Charlestown City Blues meant his team were left without a proper hit-out for more than two weeks.
“It starts to play on your mind, you’ve done the hard slog in pre-season and all you want to do is get on the pitch and play,” he said.
“The boys were read to play 10 days ago, but we had the bye first up.
“You’re already chasing points on the table and you don’t have that match edge.”
Thompson is unsure when they will play a catch-up game against Charlestown City Blues and will miss their round three encounter against the Newcastle Jets Youth at Maitland on Sunday, because of playing commitments in Perth.
“It’s been a strange start to the season, not having a coach and now this. Credit to the boys though they have prepared well,” he said.
