The event will be a mini-expo at Maitland Park Bowling Club on May 6 and attendees will be the first to hear about the major service that Volunteers for Palliative Care coordinator Judith Robinson said has been “a long time coming for Maitland”.
But as well as hosting the announcement, the event is also a chance to pay tribute to women, which unfortunately can become palliative care patients.
“We do acknowledge and support all families who happen to be at the end of their life,” Ms Robinson said.
“There’s always someone losing the role of a mum, a grandmother or a daughter.”
But Ms Robinson said it was also an opportunity to celebrate and be with the special women still here.
“It’s a celebration of being together and enjoying life together,” she said.
The event will include plenty of gift ideas just in time for Mother’s Day.
Funds raised will go towards the ongoing service provision of Volunteers for Palliative Care.
Tickets are $50 and include a drink on arrival, finger food, a two-course meal and entry into the lucky door prize.
