Hunter enduro motor sport star Toby Price has been crowned King of the Desert for the sixth time after taking out the motorbike section at the Finke Desert Race.

The 2016 Dakar Rally champion continued his dominance of the event beating his nearest rival Alice Springs rider David Walsh by more than 10 minutes.
Price’s incredible ability to focus was highlighted after he quickly dealt with the disappointment of failing to finish the truck section of the race only to jump on a helicopter to head back to Finke for the final bike leg back to Alice Springs.
He set off first from Finke at noon on Monday, holding a more than four minute lead over Walsh from the first leg.

“That is a hard pill to swallow, unfortunately we didn’t make it back to Finke in the Red Bull Trophy Truck due to a power steering failure,” Price posted on Facebook before setting out on his bike.
“We didn’t leave a stone unturned last night and our gave it a red hot crack to get me on that start line.
“We’ve arrived back in Finke via helicopter and are now with my KTM Factory Racing family ready to attempt my sixth Finke Desert Race win on the bike! Time to focus on the next task, wish me luck.”
Price and his navigator Jason Duncan finished the opening truck leg from Alice Springs to Finke in 1 hour, 50 minutes and 57 seconds.
Driving a 2017 Geiser Built 6L V8 Chev, they are 2m:59.3s behind Shannon and Ian Rentsch in the Jimco Aussie Special Nissan and eight minutes clear of the team of Greg Gartner, Jamie Jennings and Mark Hannaford in the Geiser Bros Ford Raptor TT.
The Rentsch’s clinched the title finishing 16 minutes and 47.7 seconds ahead of the chasing pack.
