Thousands of soccer fans braved the inclement weather to see the Newcastle Jets take on the Central Coast Mariners in a trial match at Maitland Sportsground on Saturday.
And they were rewarded for their efforts.
The fastest man ever, Usain Bolt, may not have made it on to the pitch but he was an undeniable presence at the recently revamped sportsground.
Indeed, the 32-year-old Jamaican turned heads when he filed through the front gates with Mariners players, who next to the towering former sprinter are unrecognisable.
The match ended in a 2-all draw, with strikes by Jack Clisby and Connor Pain (Mariners) and Jason Hoffman and Roy O’Donovan (Jets).
