The spring festivities will conclude with the festival running from Thursday to Saturday.
Maitland Council's visitor economy coordinator Martin Payne said it was a great opportunity for the community.
“The foreign film festival is part of the activity program that we have – and are continuously developing – for the lifestyle precinct here in Central Maitland,” he said.
“It’s part of the Going Global theme that we have been working on over spring, which was anchored around Riverlights Multicultural Festival.
“Obviously with Riverlights being a multicultural festival, what better way to end the theme than with a foreign film festival over three nights.” The festival will screen three films including Rams, Rosalie Blum and The Square.
“The films are from Iceland, France and Sweden,” Mr Payne said.
“They are all critically acclaimed films from 2015 to 2017, and we have been given the opportunity to showcase them. We are hoping people will come and visit the precinct after dark.”
The films will projected onto the wall of the Riverlink Building, and begin at 7pm. People will need to bring their own seats, and seating location is first in best dressed.
“We know there is a crowd, young adults to people who don’t have children, who want to see a night time economy,” Mr Payne added.
“It’s the first time we’ve done an outdoor foreign film experience at The Levee and Riverlink Building.”
