Wolfe and Browne’s Deb Rogers said she was a little nervous but very excited about her show Efflorescence, which will officially open on Friday.
“It is about blossoming and flowers, so that’s where the title of the exhibition comes from,” she said.
“It has a double meaning because the context of what I paint is about flowers but I’m new in the art scene, and this is my first exhibition – I’m blossoming as an artist.
“We’ve got a collection of 30 artworks … It’s about making people feel welcome, and sharing the experience.”
The artist added she inspired by the recent purchase of her 120-year-old house in Lorn, which has gorgeous gardens. Five per cent of the exhibition’s proceeds will be donated to to the Maitland Black and White Committee for Vision Australia Hunter Division, and will run from November 20 to December 2.
The exhibition’s opening night will run from 5.30pm on Friday at the High Street based gallery.
